In addition to the mandated state tests, there are also other tests which become part of a studentís post-high school planning. These include the PSAT, SAT, AND ACT.
The PSAT is a preliminary practice test for the SAT. It is a shorter test than the SAT but contains the same type of questions. It is given once every year in October. The PSAT will be administered here at the High School to †Juniors and Sophomores †on† Saturday ,October 14th.
REGISTRATION FOR THE PSAT TO BE GIVEN ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14TH WILL BEGIN ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH. JUNIORS SHOULD TAKE THIS PRACTICE TEST AND SOPHOMORES MAY ALSO TAKE IT. TO REGISTER, BRING A CHECK FOR $20.00 MADE OUT TO GLEN ROCK HIGH SCHOOL TO THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. WHEN YOU REGISTER, YOU WILL BE GIVEN PRACTICE MATERIALS FOR THE TEST.
The SAT testing program consists of the SAT I, which includes a Reading and Writing Score and a Math Score, and the SAT II, which tests a studentís knowledge in a particular subject area. A redesigned SAT was offered beginning with the March, 2016, administration. Among the changes include a† reverting back to the 1600 scoring scale† from the 2400 scoring scale by combining Reading and Writing scores. An expanded score report will include five separate scores that will more clearly identify strengths and weaknesses. Students will have a choice of taking the test on paper or on the computer, and there will no longer be a penalty for guessing. The essay will be optional, and the test shortened to three hours without the essay. Multiple choice questions will have four possible answers instead of five. There are also internal changes to the Reading, Writing, and Math sections.

Most students take some SAT/ACT testing during junior year, usually beginning in the spring, although the decision as to when to take the tests rests with each studentís needs. Many choose to rake additional testing during the fall of senior year.
